Mr. Goins is responsible for investment analysis, financial modeling, and portfolio management, and is a board observer and at certain of the partnerships' portfolio companies. He has over 12 years of financial services and operational experience.
Prior to joining Smith Whiley, Mr. Goins was senior training officer at the Chicago Urban League Entrepreneurship Center where he ran the Center's flagship nextONE program, a business acceleration concept targeted at minority entrepreneurs. He also worked as an equity analyst for Holland Capital Management, where he performed financial and strategic analyses for large and mid-cap stocks, and provided rationales for hold and asset allocation decisions. Mr. Goins also spent time as an entrepreneur, acquiring and turning around a Christian bookstore, and as a consultant to companies with up to $100 million in revenues. He began his career in corporate finance at American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise).
Mr. Goins received a B.S.,magna cum laude, in accounting from Florida A&M University and an M.B.A with concentrations in finance, strategy, and marketing from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Mr. Goins was a summer intern at Smith Whiley while at Kellogg.
