Mr. Nyman is responsible for deal flow development, investment selection, structuring, and portfolio management. Mr. Nyman serves as a board member and board observer for certain of the partnerships' portfolio companies and is a member of Smith Whiley’s Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Smith Whiley, Mr. Nyman spent over 25 years in alternative assets and private placements, investing in excess of $4 billion. Mr. Nyman spent 10 years at Hartford Investment Management Company ("HIMCO"), a subsidiary of The Hartford, where he was a Senior Vice President and Co-Head of the Alternative Asset Group. Prior to that Mr. Nyman worked 16 years at Aetna, Inc. For nine years, he was a Managing Director in the Private Placement Group. Additionally, while at Aetna Mr. Nyman was a Portfolio Manager responsible for $18 billion in assets, He worked in Investment Planning, and was Chief of Staff for the CFO of a division of Aetna. Prior to that Mr. Nyman worked as the Controller of Dairy Mart Incorporated and spent four years as a senior financial analyst at Combustion Engineering.
Mr. Nyman has a B.S. from Bryant University and an M.B.A. from the University of Hartford.
